Our mission to serve – People, Planet, Patients – has never been more important.
Dear Valued Customers, Suppliers and Friends,
As we are currently living through difficult and troubling times, our thoughts and prayers go out to all who are suffering, as we all come together to grapple this grave time on our history.
As a mission driven company are values are rooted in protecting human health and preserving a healthy environment for all communities – today and future generations.
While the Coronavirus pandemic has drawn our attention to taking action to protect ourselves, loved ones and others in the community from Covid-19, the parallels between the pandemic and Climate Change are very real. Each has the potential to cause widespread harm to human health and on a massive scale.
Our inspiration is the many voices, who do not lose sight of the underlying and ongoing Plastic Pollution and Climate Crises that threaten the health and wellbeing of all species on the planet.
This week marks the 5th decade of World Environment Day, and its theme Biodiversity, a call to help protect all species as a vital and intricate ecosystem for a health planet to thrive. The organization focus on consumption as part of the UN Sustainable Goals is well written here: “Ecosystems regulate the earth’s climate by capturing and storing greenhouse gases. In fact, healthy ecosystems can provide 37 per cent of the mitigation required to limit global temperature rise. Conversely, when we damage ecosystems–from peatlands to mangroves to tropical rainforests–they release carbon, instead of storing it.
Biodiverse ecosystems can help mitigate the impact of natural disasters such as floods, storms, tsunamis, avalanches, landslides and droughts. They can also protect against the spread of disease: where native biodiversity is high, the infection rate for zoonotic diseases, such as COVID-19, is lower.”
The pandemic has laid bare some hard truths about safety products for our front line workers, supply chain, and the waste seen thrown into streets and waterways…as seen below.
It showed us that a slowed down world did have a major effect on the climate – look at the clean skies, and nature taking back its natural habitats, and our National Parks are all coming back to natural life.
As we open to full-scale operations, let’s be reminded that we can come together using lessons learned, and create a more resilient future that is green and vibrant.
Small incremental changes can add up to very big impacts. Greening the operating rooms of the world one product at a time.
We continue to be thankful for our healthcare workers who have put their own lives on the line to continue to care for us, every day and on the front lines in some of the worst hit places is the world.
Customers of NewGen Surgical who have put their trust in us, continue to support us, and work with us in achieving a shared vision of a sustainable healthcare system, supporting community and environmental health – we can’t do it without you!
Thank you, and let us keep working for change and creating the world we want to see.
It’s time to wake up. To take notice. To raise our voices.
It’s time to build back better for People and Planet.
World Environment Day 6.5.2020
Sincerely and gratefully,
The NewGen Surgical Team
