Today’s environmental impacts are already affecting people’s health, especially children and the most vulnerable. As medical professionals, we have a responsibility to protect public health, today and for future generations, from the unhealthy impacts of climate change and pollution, especially as it relates to the negative environmental footprint of healthcare products and operations. It is a key tenet of our Hippocratic oath, “First Do No Harm”. I am inspired and energized about joining the Board of Directors of NewGen Surgical as they lead the industry in the development of low carbon, plant-based, sustainable surgical products.” said Dr. Krummel

Dr. Krummel’s esteemed career includes surgeon-in-chief at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, program director for the general surgery residency program, chair of the Department of Surgery Stanford School of Medicine, the Emile Holman Professor and Chair Emeritus, Department of Surgery Stanford University School of Medicine, and the Susan B. The program is designed to teach doctors, engineers, and business professionals medtech innovation through interdisciplinary research and education in engineering and the biomedical sciences.

“With his leadership roles, commitment to product innovation and experience working with early stage high growth medical device companies, Dr. Krummel will be an asset to our board. As we develop new products and expand our company to meet the challenges of our time with our mission to mitigate the climate and pollution effects on human health, Dr. Krummel’s experiences will be incredibly insightful. The opportunity and the impact we can have in greening the healthcare supply chain with sustainably designed products has never been more important,” said Rob Chase, president and founder of NewGen Surgical.
