Environmental Stewardship

Being an environmental steward begins with our mission to pioneer a change in healthcare that will disrupt using non-renewable resources that cause unhealthy pollution in production and disposal, and create and manufacture healthier – for people and planet – medical devices and products.

Small Change, Big Impact EPP program

NewGen Surgical offers hospitals a way to green healthcare one product at a time to achieve a cumulative impact in mitigating plastic waste – year after year. The Small Change, Big Impact EPP™ program, launched in June 2018, was designed to provide healthcare leaders a platform to measure the reduction of plastic waste generated from their hospital or system. Every piece of plastic matters, working together we can make a measurable impact.

Like a growing number of forward-thinking companies around the world, NewGen Surgical uses the Triple Bottom Line, also known as the three pillars of sustainability.

People: Enhancing the health of communities in which we operate — patients, surgeons, nurses, hospital personnel — all people effected by the environmental effects of plastic production and pollution.

Planet: Aiding and protecting our environment — it is our mission and our passion. We want to leave the world a better place for future generations.

Profit: By doing good we can also do well, financially. Companies need profitability in order to survive but not at the expense of others or degradation of the environment. Our success will be measured in context of how well we do in all areas.

We take the triple bottom line concept even further, and strive to support a circular economy. The Young Leaders Forum, a division of the World Economic Forum defines the circular economy as an alternative to traditional linear economy. It decouples growth from scarce resource use, thus allowing economic development within natural resource limits. Furthermore, a circular economy allows companies to innovate, enabling customers and users to adopt sustainable products and services.

There’s growing consensus that the only way forward with sustainable production and growth is to switch from our current industrial linear model to one that is less dependent on primary energy and natural resources, and is also regenerative to reduce waste.

Companies on the forefront of this wave can unleash innovations, like new product-to-service approaches, new materials recovery methods, and smarter projections and preparedness for future costs, such as waste disposal or raw materials prices.
