The one day event will highlight over twenty companies that offer products and technologies that work towards the health of the ocean in important ways by reducing disposable plastic, reducing toxic chemicals, introducing new materials and manufacturing. There will be a panel discussion, “The role of government in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship that addresses the Ocean.”
The Capital Hill Innovation Showcase is being hosted by Think Beyond Plastic with special guests Rep. S. Farr (D-CA), Rep. M. Honda (D-CA), Rep. Young (R-AK), and other members of the Senate Ocean Caucus and the Congressional Ocean Caucus attending.
“Our focus is disposable single-use plastic medical devices used in the O.R.,” said Rob Chase, Founder & President of NewGen Surgical. “It is great timing to be a part of this important innovation showcase as the demand for more sustainable products in hospitals grows, it’s important to get the discussion going on how to support these initiatives by supporting small innovative companies doing important work to reduce plastic and its impact on the ocean. ”
